It's late at night; early morning if you want to be technical. Waiting for a light bulb moment as I rummage through some of my favorite cook books. One can never have enough of them. Brother has the Momofuku book which I have to get for myself, as well as Ruhlman's Ratio. Love the Matt Groening rendition of Ferran Adria on the cover of Food for Thought, Thought for Food. It's more of an artsy perspective on Adria's work with El Bulli and chronicles most of the dishes he has created.
Today is New Year's Eve and I'm trying to figure out what to cook as relatives are coming over for dinner! Books have always been a great source of inspiration for me to get the creative juices flowing. So I've been browsing through these books to get some ideas on what I can make. I promised myself that I'd read through the books on the left in a more in depth manner soon. I love the Alinea book because every single dish has a picture and even if I probably won't be able to do most of the recipes, the book is such a visual feast!

So yeah, still not sure of what I'm cooking. Went to the grocery awhile ago and got some vegetables and proteins. Mom is making her roast beef. That's something I'm not even going to try and mess with! I think mother's always have that secret recipe we all love and don't try to alter at all. I guess I'll do a salad, a chicken dish, and a fish dish. Maybe a pasta. Will probably change my mind 20 times by the time i cook. Not really sure! Which is kind of exciting. haha Not going to try and do something fancy. It's always good to have simple great tasting food with family! Will let you know what I end up doing.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
HOPE EVERYONE EATS WELL IN 2010!
